The HDI text of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is circulating in the rgeion since Thursday and today all Panamanian media reproduce the good news for the country taken from the UN website.

According to that document, Panama has a life expectancy of 76.3 years, an school average of 9.4 years and per capita gross income of 13, 519 U.S. dollars last year.

However, Costa Rica surpasses it in life expectancy at birth with 79.4 years, the highest in Latin America.

Below the two of them are, in that order, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala which has the final position in the Central American region.

The social leader of the Pro City Alliance, Fernando Diaz Jaramillo, considered that there is still much to do in Panama regarding education, as in the indigenous regions years of education are much lower than the average that appears in the UNDP report.
